I enjoy traveling, hiking, photography, and snowboarding. As an avid explorer and lifelong learner, I have traveled to many countries around the world. I have also worked with outreach programs, such as Mission of Mercy, Give Kids A Smile, the OHIO Project, and Dentistry From The Heart, to provide free dental care to those in need.
My favorite part about being a dentist is interacting with my patients and building relationships. I work closely with my patients to create lifelong dental care plans that encourage daily attention to oral hygiene for healthy teeth and gums.

My experience with Merit Dental & DR. DERRICK SILVA started about 1-1/2 years ago. I had a tooth that needed to be pulled they were great got me in quickly as a new Patient same day ;-) After pulling my tooth DR. DERRICK SILVA advised that my gums were infected from my teeth being in bad decay and discussed going full dentures because the bone loss in my jaws was to severe. Long story short after the initial ex-rays and mouth forms being done my appointment was scheduled to remove all my teeth for the dentures I would receive. The in Office visit lasted about 2 hours DR. DERRICK SILVA and his Office were first class 100% very painless as I do not remember anything as I was put under for the most part. One thing I loved is that DR. DERRICK SILVA did all the work in office never suggesting referring me to any specialist as DR. DERRICK SILVA is the Specialist of All Procedures. I am now almost 2 months into my new dentures pain free and no longer with gum infections and extremely happy with my decision to go this route with the full upper & Lower dentures ;-) If you have ever had a bad experience with dental in your lifetime I would highly recommend DR. DERRICK SILVA & his team at Merit Dental in Sylvania Ohio, they are truly 1st Class in everyway and the Best Dentist & Dentistry I have ever had in my 60 years of Life on this Planet ;-)

I was really nervous about going because we loved our last dental office. We could no longer attend due to change in insurance. I was also a little nervous about my son not being with me but I could hear him and I could hear how well the staff was taking care of him. They were so kind and patient with him. They also did a lot of different things (more advanced) that made me feel comfortable as I was getting my teeth cleaned. I'm so happy the switch was as easy as it was. I look forward to a keeping them as my permanent dentist.

Assured me that if we had to stop there was no problem at all as me being comfortable was the main priority. During the procedure I didn’t feel anything no pain or discomfort. So he had the bright idea of replacing the veneer with a darker color veneer and they would match. So he did and it made a world of difference. Thank you Dr Silva, you are amazing. Monday morning i called Dr Valo's ofc and explained my problem. i got an appt for that afternoon and instructions on what to do when arrived for my appt. i had my temp taken and filled out questionaire in the parking lot. wearing my mask i followed his receptionist, Cheryl, inside and waited for my appt. Dr Valo came and had me follow him back to the room where he assessed my tooth and told me what he hoped to do to fix it. he and his asistant where wearing their protection, i had goggles on, and he proceeded to work on my tooth. within about a1/2 hour the procedure was a success and it looks great. i went from chipped tooth to brand new in less than 24h; it made my day. i greatly appreciate getting in quickly, the preventative measures taken to make my visit safe for all of us, and the courtesy and friendliness of Dr Valo and his staff.

I took my children, ages 5 and 2.5, to this dentist for the first time today and oh my goodness! I have never felt more welcome and comfortable in a medical/dental office. Every single person that worked there was so sweet, kind and pleasant. The office was very clean, and my kids loved the toys in the waiting room. They even had a pinball machine my son was obsessed with. My kids felt comfortable, I felt comfortable, and I'm happy to have found the right dentist for our family.

Dr. Valo always takes time to listen and answer any questions or concerns you have about your teeth. Staff are super friendly and Tina is a great dental hygienist.
Dr. Valo is an artist. Photography, sculpting and free form ceramics. A teacher with patience and vision. His office is a studio which thrives because of apprentice and mentor-ship. It might sound as if I am a paid endorser? Not so. When a molar filling becomes a lustrous contoured efficient grinding tool as our Creator intended, I can only be thankful for persons who have mastered and honed their skills to set right what goes wrong. 5 stars and more/tammy

I di Six Month Smiles with Dr. Valo and had a great experience! The entire staff were so friendly and accommodating and so easy wot talk to. Dr. Valo did wonderful work with my teeth and I am so pleased with the results. I would recommend him to anyone!!!!!
I changed my dentist to Dr. Valo by references of my friend & my daughter. Soon after I had an emergency tooth inflammation. Dr. Valo answered his cell phone as soon as I called him. He ordered prescription meds right away for me. And he took care of me as the first patient the next morning even pulling my wisdom tooth in his office! All this took only about an hour without special extra charges. I do not think anyone can find any other dentist like him in town! He is very thorough and very caring for patients. I’m so thankful for finding him as my dentist!
Tina worked on my pearly-whites 8-12-19. She did a phenomenal job.....wasn't heavy handed. Dr. Valo answered my questions and gave suggestions on how to further improve my oral health. In all of my years as a patient, I've NEVER had a negative experience! My son started seeing Dr. Valo when he was 2 maybe 3 years old. Now he feels pretty comfortable in the chair....he is now 6. My husband hated the dentist and hadn't gone in years! I convinced him to give Dr. Valo a try as "bad teeth" run in his family. He's been going for several years now and is very happy with his smile. The team has taken very good care of him between cleanings, fillings and the dreaded root canal!

I've been visiting Dr. Valo for over 15 years. Both him and his hygienists are great. Very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I cannot recommend them more than this simple review. If you're looking for a great dental experience I think you should set an appointment.

I had a great time. I used to be afraid of dentists and now I can’t wait to go. They’re gentle and kind and answer all of my questions. Plus they have great prizes and healthy drinks that taste great. They care about you and accommodate to your needs. I have very sensitive eyes and always have to bring glasses to every dentist appointment because they use lights to look in my mouth the second time I came they had bought a whole case of glasses just for me so I didn’t have to bring my own. I definitely will forever go here for the rest of my life no matter where I move.

This office is amazing. I now live out of state but I've been traveling back and forth to get my dental work done. Dr. Valo has been so easy to work with while getting my dental implant situated. He really takes the time with the patient. Kristy is awesome and goes above and beyond as well. HIGHLY recommend this office!
